DOT/FMCSA Style Compliance Audits |
The benefit of having a mock-audit conducted by DSS is that it
will enable the motor carrier to proceed forward with their
safety compliance issues and know what must be accomplished
prior to becoming a recipient of a DOT audit. Using the same
processes and procedures as an investigator with FMCSA, DSS
will review all records DOT requires you to maintain.
The areas reviewed are:
- Drivers files
- Accident register/files
- Vehicle maintenance records/inspections
- Hours of service/supporting documents
- Hazardous material training/security plans
- Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion Training
|
|
During the course of the review, DSS will advise you of any
noncompliant areas and guide you in taking corrective action.
DSS will also inform you of any violations or enforcement penalties
that could have been imposed had it been the actual DOT review.
Once the review is completed, you will be provided with a complete
report of the results of the review and assistance in outlining
a corrective action plan.
Follow-Up Compliance Visits
DSS will advise carrier officials after the initial visit as to
when another review should take place. DSS does not leave the
carriers “hanging” out there to gain compliance on their own.
DSS sets a schedule for follow-up visits to assist the carrier
in gaining a satisfactory safety posture. |
